9.2 Spiritual languages don’t function
If now with receiving the Holy Spirit the spiritual languages don’t ‘come’, what to do then?
We assume, that you have prepared yourself honestly and that you are focused on the guidance of Jesus Christ. You have focused your faith on the receiving of the promise.
Calmly go home in the certainty, that the Lord has given you his promise. In the following days you take extra time to seek the Lord in prayer. Don’t pray in a pleading way. Thank Him for all good gifts, also for the Holy Spirit.
After a while the Spirit will ‘urge’ you to express unknown sounds. Then surrender yourself again to the working of inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
Don’t be ashamed for the Lord, according to your feeling, that you are acting foolishly. Realise, that you can speak new languages by the Holy Spirit!
9.3 How to now activate and use?
Now that we have received the Holy Spirit, we should see to it that:
• a) the Spirit will not be extinguished;
• b) the Spirit will not be saddened;
• c) we strive after the expressions of the Spirit
We can become full of Him again and again in our daily communication with the Lord.
Privately
Make sure, that you give the speaking of spiritual languages in your personal life a daily, normal place, next to or maybe eventually ‘prior to’ praying in your native language indeed.
It is a true relationship with the Lord. Work with this possibility, in deep respect for his working.
For this expression you can take the initiative yourself, but also be aware, that the Spirit sometimes urges or inspires you.
Also as a way to prepare you for the meetings of the Church, indeed this gift is immensely important in everything you do with and for the Lord!
In the Church
Encounter the moments of worship (through the Spirit and the truth) in the Church meetings actively and full of devotion.
Allow the Spirit to pass on his words to the Church also through you. Expect his inspiration, his revelation and his power. If you notice this, cooperate heartily then with this expression of the Spirit to the benefit of the Church.
Also participate actively during intercession, to fight along through and under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
In spiritual care
Be very careful, tender and loving. Listen to the people, but above all listen to the voice of the Lord!
When the Lord gives a revelation, check it in consultation with another brother or sister of your Church.
Ask questions in order to obtain openness with the other person for what the Lord revealed to you. Never act against the will of the other person.
The expressions of the Spirit should be founded on the love of God, for the wellbeing of all. In this way we shall, in all carefulness and adjustment with other Christians who are baptized in the Spirit, be of great value in our work with and for the Lord.
Let us, fulfilled with as much as possible knowledge of and about God and full of his goodness, be enabled to help each other further on the road of the Lord, that leads to completeness according to spirit, soul and body.
The person, that belongs to God, will after a process of development, of which the gifts of the Spirit are an essential part “be thoroughly equipped for every good work (= the works of Jesus)” (see 2 Timothy 3:17).
