2.6 Testimony

Following is the touching testimony of an elderly aged sister in the Lord.
She came (at a reasonably young age) at a low point in her life, a demolishing disease was breaking her body down. She was a positive member of a traditional church from since the time she was young of age. She called to the Lord in her deep need.
A short while later she experienced a deep, unknown communication with her Lord.
Her body and the room in which she was resting, were filled with a Divine glance.
Jesus’ peace was tangible.
She thought she would be taken away out of this life, to be welcomed by Him. She felt as if she was lifted out of her bed and carried by the Lord.
In this way she fell asleep.
She woke up one day later. She was still alive but the suffering was gone. After this her body recovered.
For weeks she experienced the direct presence of the Lord like in that night. The presence of the Lord was like a source of power and peace.
Something that she could not explain happened one of those days. Her lips were filled with praising and exalting her Lord . Joy and thanksgiving filled her… until she became aware of a series unknown sounds. It shocked her. She was ‘babbling’ sounds that were not understandable to herself.
She was ashamed before the Lord, ashamed to be misbehaving in his presence in this way. She asked for forgiveness. Every time she was praising the Lord, this wave of words were coming back.
The beautiful thing was that it did not hinder her communication with the Lord. On the contrary!
She experienced a deep, intense communication at the moments she would speak these unknown sounds. The peace of the Lord overwhelmed her.
For about three to four weeks she would use this ‘language’ as a prayer language in her confidential relation with Jesus.
She was even speaking about it as a ‘heavenly language’.
When she was completely healed after a few weeks, she visited her minister. She told him about all that had happened to her, she even told him about her ‘miraculous prayer life’. She was hesitant because she had  never heard or read about something like this.
Her preacher laughed at her. How could a sensible woman like she was, confuse a state of having a high fever for a deep prayer communication with God?
She told him at that time that she was still praying like that!
His despise only grew bigger. She had really ended up in satan’s trap!
She couldn’t find any understanding. She would not receive any explanation of the Word.
She was deeply hurt because she had mistaken satan’s work for a loving act from God. She asked for forgiveness and reconciliation before God’s face. After this she fought against this ‘manifestation’.
Her cousin was baptized in the Holy Spirit forty years later. As a good member of her traditional church she was annoyed about her cousin ignoring the ‘ancient teachings’.
She remembered her experience from forty years back while talking about this subject and reading a few books about baptism in the Holy Spirit. In a private conversation she hesitantly started to talk about it. Could  it possibly have been something like this? Would that unknown wave of words…
Tears filled her eyes. If she had only known then about the abundance of living water, which God wants to make available to the ones that are his. As she called out to Him in her need, God had touched her. He had manifested  himself through his Spirit in the expression of spiritual languages.  This deep communication was there between her spirit and the Holy Spirit. Nobody was able to tell her about the gift of the Holy Spirit at that time.

What a sad experience. What a great loss, what a shortage! “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge”, the prophet Hosea already said it in the Old Testament (Hosea 4:6).
It is still possible today that from lack of knowledge of the revealed Word of God, people don’t have a part in the life of victory that Jesus Christ wants to give.
The Father has made the gift, the baptism in and the fulfilment with the Spirit, available for you and me after Jesus was exalted! Praise God for that!
