12.6 Arraboon – deposit

On three occasions in the Bible we can read that the Holy Spirit is called the deposit of our inheritance.
2 Corinthians 1:22 - “ He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our heart as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come…..”.
2 Corinthians 5:5 – “Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come”.
Ephesians 1:14 – “who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are Gods possession – to the praise of his glory.

A “mortgage ” or a “down payment” is a deposit which somebody gives as a proof or guarantee that the full or total costs will be paid. It is clear that it is impossible to come to the fullness of God’s purpose and knowledge in our mortal bodies.
2 Corinthians 5:4 tells us – “ ..what is mortal may be swallowed up by life” .Verse 5 tells us that God just has destined us to receive immortal resurrected bodies (like Jesus had after his resurrection). We only can receive this when the Holy Spirit can live en work in us with his gifts and his love.
This is our inheritance!
Now we have ‘only’ received a deposit of our inheritance. The Spirit has not been able to fully develop in us. When the deposit or the down payment already makes us this rich now, how rich will the full inheritance make us?!

As we pursue the love and strive towards the manifestations of the Spirit we will receive the full inheritance of the Lord: our glorious bodies! The Glory of the Lord than will continue to work in us an through us, but this is one things which we can still hardly imagine!
“I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know – God knows. An I know that this man – whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, but God knows – was caught up to paradise. He heard inexpressible thing, things that man is not permitted to tell ( 2 Corinthians 12: 3-4)
