11.1 Alternative spirit

The Lord Jesus is not the only one who works.
His mortal enemy, the devil, doesn’t sit still either. He has tried to nag the Lord from the first moment on.
But he is not creative. He imitates. Therefore he is also called ‘God’s monkey’.
There are elements of God’s Plan of Recovery through Jesus Christ to be found back in all religions that are in the world. There are plenty of saviours, plans of salvation (=recovery) too many to call by name. Ways to come to an ‘eternal creature’, unfortunately get a lot of attention of the modern men. Although this wasn’t any different in earlier times.
One thing is to satan’s disadvantage: all his redeemers are (or become) dead people.
Our Redeemer is the living human person and Lord: Jesus Christ.

It therefore doesn’t have to surprise us, that satan comes with ‘supernatural’ manifestations, like imitations of the works and expressions of the Holy Spirit. We can call him the alternative spirit in this context for that reason.
We live in a time, which is named in the Bible: ‘the last of days’(the eschaton, amongst other verses Hebrews 1:1).
This is in the Plan of God the period after the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, where the sons of God, who will become conform to the image of Jesus, will be revealed. In this way Jesus returns in those who have believed (in God’s Plan) (2 Thessalonians 1:10).
In this period of time it will be all about this for the people:
A. am I full of God’s Spirit,
or
B. am I a prey to the alternative spirit, to satan.

The battle will be about this also in our community as a whole.
The Bible speaks a clear language concerning this. Humanity will decrease into extreme behaviour patterns, into occult practises because of the alternative Spirit.
The first signs are already there. Occult matters play a role in lots of art and amusement. Especially don’t underestimate the influence of mass media, like newspapers, magazines, books, television and internet!

Satan will show himself in the power of signs and wonders.
2 Thessalonians 2:9 – “The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, …”
In the same way  Jesus Christ reveals himself and returns (in the ones that are his), the anti-christ also has a revelation and an arrival. The Lord performed signs and wonders, and so also does the anti-christ, the opposite image of Christ.
‘The work of satan’ means, that the devil is the inspiration- and energy source of the wonders and signs done by the anti-christ.
False (pseudo) signs and wonders; this refers to the miracles as well as the signs and the power. It doesn’t mean that these manifestations of the anti-christ would be deceptive, some kind of magic trick, but that the origin of these miracles is the power of the lie (John 8:44; the devil as the father of lies), or that they bring forth and expand the lie, in order for the people to start believing in the lie (verses 10-11). The reality of the miracles of the anti-christ is shown in Revelation 13 (compare with Mark 13:22).
Jesus did and still performs miracles for the recovery of men. Satan is only focused on intimidating people and exalting himself as god.

Therefore the call to those that really want to stand on God’s side, becomes stronger all the time:
be fulfilled with the Holy Spirit!
Who, as a child of God, chooses to ignore this call, will be playing with his (spiritual) chances in life in the future.
Therefore, don’t sit still! Start investigating, read the Bible concerning this matter while praying, investigate on internet, start reading good books about this. Talk about this with your spiritual brothers and sisters! Don’t spend your time on unimportant, earthly matters. We won’t be living on earth for that long. It is about the fact that, in this life we obtain a spiritual benefit that is as high as possible, for us to enter eternity with!
Do you think that after you die, you will all the sudden be a totally different creature, that then you will suddenly have a totally different spiritual stature, like the one you have reached in this life? Surely not!
Therefore strive after the gifts of the Spirit NOW, strive after being revealed as a son of God! This is really the highest and most beautiful for you to strive after and above all it is literally of eternal value!
