1.7 The perfect
There are people that know about Jesus’ words. Some of them have known the terms for a long time, often from since they were children.
The writer of the letter to the Hebrews names them.
They know the words. They know the way. They just don’t work a lot with it! They just, so to speak, let God talk: they just leave his Word for what it is....
Spiritually they have become stubborn, some of them have even become spiritually deaf and also slow at heart. The last comment means that they don’t react spontaneously and enthusiastically at the delicious and precious wealth of God’s love. Their spiritual senses are not tuned in with God.
What a pity! In this way you lose flexibility, and more so – you lose victory! Glance fades, life fades, death enters.
And then the writer of the Hebrew-
If only most of us were already at that point that they were trained in the first principles, had followed spiritual elementary education, laid the foundations of faith.
Unfortunately many don’t reach this point even after years….!
After all satan did succeed in blurring our sight.
The writer of the Hebrew-
This state of perfection comes after the foundation, after the spiritual elementary education.
Many of us are afraid of that word: the perfect. But God allows it to be written in the Bible several times, the book of which many believers say that they believe in this book from ‘cover to cover’.
God wants to go with us to the full, perfect, to the level of maturity in Christ!
Great! So now we know!
We can now start off on the road following Jesus.
We do want to follow Him, wherever He goes, don’t we?
Now there is room for a change to come in our faith. Following in Jesus footsteps!
Some of you would say that it doesn’t go that easy. Of course it doesn’t. At least if it depends on our own possibilities it won’t work at all. We really need the power of Christ in this process.
And that power is ours when the Holy Spirit comes over (on, in) us, like it says in Acts 1:8.
This receiving of the Holy Spirit is part of the principles of the elementary education about Christ.
This elementary education consists out of the following subjects (Hebrews 6:1):
• repentance;
• faith in God;
• instruction about baptisms (in the original Greek we find the noun of baptism and with this are meant the baptism in water, the baptism in the Holy Spirit and the baptism in fire);
• the laying on of hands;
• the resurrection of the dead;
• eternal judgement (the definite separation between good and evil).
Until we all reach unity attaining the whole measure of the fullness of Christ (see Ephesians 4:13).
How does Paul imagine this? How can a human being come this far? Read in Colossians 1:27 and 28 where it says: “To them God has chosen to them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.”
We proclaim Him:
• Christ in you;
• that is why we correct everyone (literally: ‘bind to the heart’);
• and we teach everyone.
We understand that, as God wants all of this, every person would be perfect in Christ, satan of course doesn’t sit still. In this context it is very remarkable that, when satan and his rulers ‘of this era’(this century) had known about this secret (this mystery), he would have never allowed the Lord of glory to be crucified (1 Corinthians 2: 7 and 8).
But praise God, Jesus was crucified. More so: He is resurrected and risen. And He sits at the right hand of God, image of the Holy Spirit.
How incredible this secret is: Christ (through his Spirit) in us, the hope in glory for us, the Godly splendour, that is also available for us!
And all of this has been made available to us by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit!
Especially in this time – in this world that is in a acceleration flow, in a generation that is being destroyed by the work of demons, the powers of darkness – we may openly become visible as sons of God.
We will be recognized as belonging to Jesus: strong and concurring satan and his fallen angels, just like Jesus Christ was revealed. He travelled trough the country of Israel doing good ( He shared the Gospel of the kingdom of heavens, for example) and healing all who were under the power of the evil, because God was with Him (see Acts 10:38).
This is what creation is waiting for with a deep longing and in tense expectation.
The creation, that is now under pressure by satan and his demons, who work in man by sin, disease, seduction, violence and distraction. With the purpose to keep man as far away as possible from God and his love!
That is why God is gathering people, the Church of Jesus Christ. The members of this Church are all filled with God’s Spirit and the powers of the future century, the new era, are working in them. This happens in a time where God recovers everything and where He will finally be ‘all in all’ (1 Corinthians 15: 28).
A short summary of the above:
• it worked for satan and his demons to separate the biggest part of humanity from God;
• as a result, man is being oppressed by sin, guilt, diseases, worries and all other possible forms of misery;
• because of this, humanity will miss ( already does) the eternal and perfectly happy life with God;
• despite of this, God still loves the world for 100%;
• God holds on to his Plan, that all people will be conform to Jesus Christ ( “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness” – Genesis 1:26);
• for this cause He gives us his Holy Spirit, the dynamic power that will manifest through the development of the expressions and the fruit of the Spirit in our lives;
• for this reason Jesus has brought his Gospel; also Paul reminds us of this in his letter to the Colossians (1:28): “We proclaim him (Christ) ...so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.”;
• in this way, we will become known as sons of God, delivering creation from the oppression of satan’s territory.
