1.6 Conform to the image of Jesus
It will be clear to all, that a ‘deep working’ of God is necessary to form us to the image of his Son Jesus Christ. This is impossible without the fulfilment of/with the Holy Spirit!
As a consequence of the baptism [5] in the Holy Spirit we receive power and are being equipped for our task. Mind the words of the Lord Jesus Himself, as written in John 17:18-
“As you sent me into world, I have sent them into the world. ………that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them an you in me. May they be brought to complete unity…”
This is as clear as it will ever get. Jesus went the way, through Golgotha, for this reason; to lay the foundation for victory and to fight for the believers for the possibility of a life without guilt and sin, to his glory. In order for the Holy Spirit to connect with the believers, so that they would like He is → one with the Father!
Let our eyes be opened for this (literally) immeasurable richness of Jesus’ words!
We will be sent like Jesus. After his baptism in water, he also received the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16 and compare also the other Gospels).
As He went this way ‘to fulfil all justice’, then we will, to be like Him, surely have to follow this way also.
Are you baptized in water and baptized in the Holy Spirit?
God wants us to become one with Jesus. This Unity is made possible by receiving the Holy Spirit (read for reference for example John 14:20,23b and 26). The unity with Him brings perfection. It is very clear that this perfection does not come from us, it is not an accomplishment from our side. It is God’s doing through Jesus Christ.
Will you allow God to accomplish this for you?
5. To baptize: In this process you become one with the elements in which you are being immersed. This could be: in water, in the Holy Spirit and also in fire.
